Walter S. Westerman

Walter Westerman was born 26 January 1855, at Adrian, Michigan.  He graduated from Evans Business College in 1874, then was employed in several county offices.  Meanwhile, he read law and was admitted to the bar in 1876.  He subsequently was admitted to the state bar and to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.  He was Adrian City Attorney for three years.
     He ran for county office as a Democrat, then for several state offices as on the Prohibition ticket, never winning but each time obtaining respectable numbers of votes.
     Westerman was licensed to preach by the Evangelical Methodist Church in 1901.  In Adrian, he was president of the Humane Society and attorney for the Good Government League.
