Douglas Corrigan

“Wrong Way” Corrigan was born in Galveston, Texas on 22 January 1907; he died at Santa Anna, California on 19 December 1995.
     Corrigan, who had little formal education, began life as a construction worker.  Soon becoming a pilot, he obtained work as an aviation mechanic and during WWII served as a test pilot.  Following his accidently/on purpose flight to Ireland in 1935, he became nationally famous and a wealthy man.  Later in life, he purchased an orange grove in California and retired there.
