Edgar V. Moorman

Edgar Moorman was an Illinois businessman.  He and his 1940 running-mate, Roger Babson, were especially influential in moving the philosophical basis of the Prohibition Party from pragmatic Christian Progressivism to hard-right doctrinal Christian fundamentalism.

    The 1940 candidates, Roger Babson (left) and Edgar Mooreman (right). Edgar V. Mooreman was the owner of Moorman Manufacturing Company in Quincy IL, a producer of livestock feed.  In 1940 he was the Party's Vice Presidential candidate alongside Roger Babson.  They received 59,492 votes.
