Charles Bentley

The 1896 Prohibition Convention split over the issue of “free silver,” and the free-silver (“National Party”) faction nominated Charles Eugene Bentley as its candidate for president. 
     Bentley was born in Warners, New York on 30 April 1841.  He died in 1905.  At the time of the 1896 Convention, he was a Baptist minister in Lincoln, Nebraska.
