Col. Van B. Wisker

Col. Van B. Wisker, aged 75 years, a veteran of the Franco-Prussian War, linguist, preacher, educator, and a former owner and editor of the Sedalia (Missouri) Sentinel, died yesterday at Auburn, California.  Col. Wisker was born in New York State.  At the close of the Franco-Prussian War, he was employed as a tutor in a royal Polish family.  Returning to the United States, he became an ardent temperance worker.
